Sodor Salon is a hairdressing salon in the suburb of Moorabbin, Victoria with a target demographic of women aged 19-35 years old living in Melbourne.
Sodor Salon primary goal was to build their client base through having a website that would generate bookings. Their secondary goal was to establish a web presence.

For Sodor Salon, it was important for me to achieve their goals while having a design style that suited the target demographic. I achieved this through a multi-faceted approach explained below.
Before commencing the design of a website, I undergo research. For the salon, firstly, I researched the target audience. It’s essential to understand the target audience and what is important to them.
Then, I researched competitors to leverage from their success, and to create a design that stood out.
Receiving bookings is crucial for a service-based business such as Sodor Salon. To achieve bookings, I created a prominent call-to-action “Book an Appointment” and a convenient online booking system. An online booking system creates a seamless experience for the website visitor to make a booking.
The salon had great photography, so the images, along with an explanation of the services helped visitors know what to expect before making a booking, which increases the likelihood of customer conversion.
I placed Sodor’s stellar testimonials at the bottom of each page to help establish trust in the brand. Building trust helps a visitor feel more at ease when deciding to make a booking with a salon they haven’t visited.
Through just on-site search engine optimisation, I was able to achieve top positions not only for the name but for more competitive keywords such as “hairdressing salon Moorabbin” (please see image), thus creating a dominant web presence.
